To be considered eligible, the applicant must:

  • Not be younger than 16 and not older than 25 years of age on the day of the finals competition, March 13, 2010.
  • Be a High School Junior or Senior, College Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior on the day of the finals competition, March 13, 2010. (Graduate students are not eligible)
  • Provide online application to Crescendo Music Awards Committee by the entry deadline, midnight Saturday, January 31, 2010. Note: Only online applications will be accepted. If you are unable to complete the online application, please contact the committee via the Contact Us Form on this website.
  • Submit Application Fee. The application fee for the High School Division is $25. For the Collegiate Division the fee is $50. Fee must be submitted via PayPal.
  • Provide two online letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a music professional familiar with the applicant. Letters of recommendation must include phone numbers, and be submitted by the entry deadline, January 31, 2010. It is the applicant's responsibility to provide the link to the online recommendation form to those persons who will be submitting the recommendations.
  • Have performed publicly in concert as a soloist or as part of an ensemble.
  • Exhibit ethical standards of behavior and high moral integrity, and have a serious intent to pursue a professional performing or teaching music career.
  • Audition for the Crescendo Music Awards judging panels.
  • Exemplify the spirit of the Rotary Four-Way Test.

 

Note: First Place winners, in either high school or college, are not eligible to compete in subsequent years within the same division. For example, the first place winner of one of the high school divisions (Strings, Piano, or Vocal) may not compete in the same division in subsequent years. However, he or she may compete in another of the high school divisions if desired (as long as all other eligibility requirements are met). He or she also becomes eligible to compete in the collegiate division of choice upon graduation from high school and entrance into college.

First Place winners at the collegiate level may not compete in subsequent years in the same division, but may compete in another of the divisions (Strings, Piano, or Vocal) as long as all other eligibility requirements are met.
